Xbox one controller won't link to galaxy s8?

I have a brand new Samsung galaxy s8 fresh outta the box which included ear buds, s8, micro adapter and the usb connecter iv been told that you can use the usb connecter to link xbox one controller to phone by using a a setup like this in photo but all that happens is my controller turns on n blinks a few times and doesn't sec to mobile i don't know if I'm doing something wrong or not
