How to fix a Samsung S4 active screen?

So in my school we are not allowed to bring our phones, so we have to leave them at a store, I leave my phone at a local shoe repair store, well one that is around my school.
So school ends and I go to get my phone, and it works fine, but as I make my way down the block my phone freezes, and I notice a slight crack across my screen, Which is not noticed and another one by the buttons. I cant feel it. I have no clue what was going on. So my friend tells me to just take my battery to turn it off, and as I turn it on again, the screen is unresponsive. I try to put my code in by swiping the screen and literally nothing. The button does work like turning it on and off, and as well as screenshoting, and volume. Just everything that has to do with touching the screen doesn't work. And I have no idea what to do. Is it possible to fix it my self? Or home fixes? Tips ideas? I need my phone fixed by this Friday. June 6. Since I have a trip.
