What is the fastest moving thing in the universe? Is it light? Or is it universe expansion?

Ok, so what I have learnt is that, the galaxies which are at a very far distance, close to the edge of our observable universe, could one day, no longer seen. This is because the universe is expanding faster than the light could reach them.
We were taught that nothing travels faster than light! This is fundamentally false. What are your thoughts?
