I made prank calls to 911 for the past year or so using an old prepaid cellphone that has no service, can they trace it back to me?

So I made a mistake of doing stupid prank calls to 911 and now I might be in trouble. I called 911 using an old prepaid samsung galaxy phone that now has no service. I now have an iphone 8 with service from t mobile. I would make calls and get the police sent to houses on my street including mine. I've been depressed for the past year and it recently got worse when my girlfriend left me back in february. Ever since then I have been doing it almost everday. The police showed up at my house earlier this morning saying that someone keeps on calling the police and getting it sent to this address and other houses on the street. They said the person is using an non service cell phone to make this so they can't trace it but they said they are teaming together to catch him. They said the calls are pinging around this area. They then told us to call spectrum and get them to change our ip address. Can they trace these calls back to me if I used an old cell phone that has no service? Are they suspecting it is me if they are telling me to change my ip address? What should I do? Would they stop investigating if I stop?
