New to smartphones,what's the best choice for me?

I'm not what is considered a "power user" I really just want my phone for everyday tasks, and as a test run I would like to own a smartphone for a while.I'm currently using a very good "dumbphone" but anyways. I was thinking of buying the iPhone 6s since it seems pretty straight forward but I've heard and seen bad things from my friends that used to own them such as they are really fragile,Apple only services their products themselves and other things but im not here to bash on anyone. My other option is the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 or the S6 Edge,I've heard that Android is really customisable and powerful but I'm not sure it's meant for basic users.

What do you think I should get?Of course you can recommend me other devices I just mentioned some I've seen with friends and by myself in stores.
