Headphones randomly change my iPod's volume?

When I plug my headphones into my computer, it's fine, but when I plug them into my iPod 3rd gen touch, it changes the volume randomly. These headphones came with my Samsung galaxy prime plus phone. I haven't tried the headphones with those, but with my ipod, the volume will be fine, and I won't even move or anything and the volume will suddenly change to louder, then cuts out down to zero volume, then back to normal, then up again, and it's the weirdest thing.
Please help! My other, older headphones don't do this! How do I fix it?
Added (1). I'm not pressing the buttons on the headphone control but maybe if I cover them up? It's not like the volume is slowly going up like I'm pressing and holding the volume, it just suddenly jumps up like 3 notches.
Added (2). I just started wiggling the headphone side with the headphone control and the volume started to jump around. This thing is stupidly sensitive… But the headphones are nice quality. Maybe if I cover it?
