Something wrong with my cell phone receiver?

I work in a place we call a black hole. Verizon has a pretty strong signal here but nothing else works here.

Recently I bought a Samsung Note 3 to use as a PDA at work.

My cheepo little Verizon no contract flip phone gets a great cell phone signal here.

My Verizon Samsung WiFi device gets a strong 4G signal here.

My new cell phone does not receive any signal, 4G, 3G or cellular.

I wonder if there is something wrong with the phone?
It does get a signal in other areas.
Added (1). The phone is on my Verizon plan but I did not buy the phone from them.

My last phone was a Samsung Galaxy S5 and it got a good signal here.
