How to remove pictures from a samsung galcy s6?

I got my Galaxy back in June and ever since then i have taken a million photos. I used to be able to select whatever pictures i wanted to and they would delete. After the new update that i had to get in order to be able to look at my photos, i got a message saying i ran out of storage and didnt have enough for any more. So i deleted almost 2000 photos. I hit the delete button but none of them removed. If i go to my trash, they are all in the trash but still in my camera roll. They are still there and i try to delete them but i can only delete like 3 for them to actually delete. How can i get rid of this?
