Is there any benefit whatsoever in getting an expensive smartphone like the Iphone 8 (see details)?

Not knocking anyone who has the expensive smartphones, I'm just curious as to why?

The Iphone 8 costs about $800 dollars, and to not pay that amount upfront, you have to get a contract where you are locked in for 2 years.

I on the other hand, have the LG Phoenix 3, which I purchased outright for $79.99. Even still I would have gotten the Samsung Galaxy Express 3 for $49.99 if it hadn't been out of stock at my local AT&T store.

I use their gophone plan, have unlimited talk text and date month to month, no contract for $45 per month. No added taxes or fees.

That also means if I don't like something, I can pay my last month's bill and bounce.

So what can the expensive smartphones do that mine can't? I mean sure, I don't have Siri or whatever your phone has, but am I missing out on any features in any real sense?

Unless the expensive smartphones are capable of a heck of a lot more, then why lock yourself into a contract just so you can pay off the cost of the latest and the greatest over time?
