I know it's physically impossible to leave the Milky Way With todays technology. The edge of our galaxy is too far away. The escape velocity of our galaxy is also said to be about 1.2 Million Miles per hour!
The Milky Way is also flying through space towards the Andromeda Galaxy at a rate of about 70-75 Miles per second! It is also spinning around pretty fast.
Also consider the fact that our Solar System is spinning around the galaxy at a different rate of speed than the galaxy is spinning. The Solar System is also moving up and down.
If we did escape the Milky Way, what would life be like in a spaceship? How could we get back to Earth, if ever? Where could we go outside the galaxy?
BTW, how could someone come back into the galaxy? Is there a specific speed or angle they'd have to travel to safely enter the atmosphere of the Milky Way Galaxy without blowing up like the Space Shuttle Columbia did when it came back to Earth?
Any other facts or trivia about leaving the Milky Way would be interesting to!
(Also, what if your spacecraft could travel at a rate of 85 Miles per second?)
