How come one part of my tablet screen won't react very well to touch?

Hi there. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8. I have had it for quite a while, and it never showed any problems. 3 months ago I accidentally knocked a heavy metal can onto the tablet, cracking it. The crack was pretty big, but I could still use the tablet with no problems and the crack didn't cut me when I touched it, so I ignored it. After that, the tablet began taking some real damage. I'm a rather clumsy person, and I ended up denting the bottom left corner, and the top right of the tablet, near the headphone jack and the logo, broke a bit and components inside were exposed. At this point, the tablet was running fine still, so I covered up these spots with electric tape. The tablet continued to function just fine for a few weeks, with no other damage besides the first crack expanding a little. Just recently, I noticed that the bottom of my screen near the home button no longer responds to touch. The buttons around the main home button respond, but the screen itself does not. If I were to hold my tablet in portrait mode with the home button on the bottom, and I then opened the keyboard, I couldn't hit the space bar and other nearby keys without just wildly tapping it and hoping it somehow reacts. Some places in this area work, but other places don't. There aren't any cracks in the area except for one line that came from the original crack that never caused problems before. What should I do?
