Why can't I import photos to my computer from my galaxy S7?

I can't import photos from my phone to my computer. My computer is running on a Windows 10 operating system, it's a desktop. My phone is a Galaxy S7. I connect my phone's cable and enable "file transfer" and/or "photo transfer" from the drop down menu on my phone, and it seems fine from the phone's end. But when my photos app on my Computer comes up, it tells me I have no photos to import. When I definitely do, they're all on my phone.
The computer definitely sees my phone; and yet if I try to go into my phone's folder, it won't show that I have photos in it that way, either… It can't see my photos on the PC.
ONCE IN A WHILE, though, it will see that I have photos in my phone. But when I try to move them or copy them to put them onto my computer, it will NOT let me move them. And the app/window I have open on my PC will usually crash then…

I have ALREADY TRIED uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for my phone. They don't need an update that I can see… I auto searched for an update.

Please please help me ): I don't want to E-mail all of my photos to myself or upload them via online photo storage; that takes much longer and also hogs up bandwidth. Thank you so much!
