Almost all of my emails are no longer showing attachments that they once had. Where did they go? Some of them were pretty important

-The emails that had attachments were usable recently & no longer even show the paperclip icon to note that they had them.
-I use a Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport & have not changed phones since this occurred.
-The files varied from scanned pics to Word docs to spreadsheets to adobe cs artwork.
-The only attachments I seem to have at all are from this year.
