I dropped my Samsung Note 5 in the toilet. I need to know how the water damage indicator works?

Okay so a couple of minutes ago, I was freaking stupid to knock my phone into the toilet. I took it out immediately wiped off any water I could with a towel. I pressed the unlock button and it was working for a second and then it started to glitch. So I did my best to hurry up and turn it off and put it in rice, since I don t have any silica gels. I did some research and found out about the damage indicator. My heart stopped and I took my phone out to take out the sim port. Now the question I have is how do I know it s damaged. I m looking inside and I saw the white label but there s this little white square within it and it has red x s. Is that supposed to be there? Because all the pictures I saw online, the only ones where I could see the label, only has white for non-damaged and red/pink for damaged. I don t know if this matters but my carrier is Verizon just in case if carriers make these phones different. Holy crap though, I m sh***ing bricks up in here. I just got this phone two months ago and I can t f**k up this bad already.
