Galaxy s5 screen broken, unable to get contacts sms off phone?

I accidentally slept on my Galaxy S5 on my bed and the screen just got destroyed and as I tried using it the more it kind of turned off until now the screen is just completely off and the only way I can still see if the phone is working is the fact that when I click the lock button the bottom soft key lights turn on. Btw the soft keys do not work either, I'm not sure if they are part of the display or not.
Someone recommended connecting the phone to the computer and taking screenshots as I blindly touch my way to the settings app and turn on usb debugging while viewing the screenshots on the computer. I did this and got all the way to developer options and even touched usb debugging but that's right when the touch on the screen died as well because once I clicked it, the button got stuck it when I took a screen shot it just showed it as holding the usb debugging check mark but it didn't end up clicking. On my next screenshot (which I took a minute later after waiting) I accidentally pressed the home button before the lock button and it went back home. And now since the touch on the screen is dead there is zero way to navigate back to the settings. Also, my phone stopped connecting to my computer and simply just says that it connected but when I double click it says "This folder is empty".

I'm trying to simply get my contacts and sms off the phone because I just found out that Google synced only some of my contacts Also I wanted to get my sms off of it as well. Any ideas?
