Switched from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, text messages not showing up?

Ok so I used the Smart Switch app on the Galaxy to transfer the data from the iPhone and everything from the period of update from the phone is there, but now I can t see new text messages or sent messages. I can see it as a notification at the top, but all the messages are only from that period I had my iPhone. I can t see messages I ve sent or received, just the notification at the top.

Please how do I fix this, I ve tried the settings and can t find a solution online either. Would I have to download another message app or use the Hangouts app on the Galaxy for text messages instead?
