My Samsung tablet had both seals on the box broken?

I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S tablet for my birthday, but both the seas on the box were broken. It was a present from my mum, and she bought it on Amazon, but lost the present for several weeks before she gave it to me. The only explanations I can think of for the broken seals are that either my mother opened the box to see that everything was fine or that it was opened by staff to install apps and whatnot. However, I've heard that computers can be hacked and information can be taken from it, and a good way to check is to see if the computer is slow. It seems to be ok, but there is a typing issue, as it cannot recognise some of the words I type. Am I being overly cautious?
It could just be because I'm not used to typing on it yet…
I have already set the whole thing up including passwords to all my social media, as I only started worrying about the seals five or ten minutes ago. Any advice welcome x
